Work Trip - March, 2008
(St. Luke's UMC, Highlands Ranch, CO)

The group size for this trip will be 25 - 30 people. We will be working with local people in a construction project, and will also be spending time each day with children in a Bible school program. Prior construction experience is desirable, but not essential.

We will primarily be building adobe homes for widows. We may also do some work at the orphanage across the street. We will have planned activities with the local children each day at the Lemoa elementary school. We will also spend time at the John Wesley School in nearby Santa Cruz.


Schedule (March 15 - 24, 2008)

Saturday March 15 - Depart Denver for Guatemala (overnight flight)
Sunday March 16 - Arrive in Guatemala
- Drive to Chichicastenango (~5 hours)
- Free time at the market in Chichicastenango
- Check into hotel
- Attend evening church services
Monday March 17 - Work day
Tuesday March 18

- Work day

Wednesday March 19 - Work day
Thursday March 20 - Work day
Friday March 21 - Work day
Saturday March 22 - Drive to Panajachel (~3hrs)
- Check into hotel
- Free time at Lake Atitlan
Sunday March 23 - Drive to Antigua (~4hrs)
- Check into hotel
- Free time in Antigua
Monday March 24 - Shuttle to airport
- Fly home

Cost

The total cost for this trip has not yet been finalized, but is expected to be in the neighborhood of $1,500 per person (the final amount depends on the negotiated group airfare). This amount will include all airfare, ground transportation, lodging, and most meals during the trip. Here is a breakdown of what is covered:
