Guatemala Project Tour - October, 2007
The group size for this trip will be 8 - 10 people. Activities include:
  • Attend graduation ceremonies at the John Wesley School in Santa Cruz del Quiché
  • Travel with Pura Vida to remote villages in the Chichicastenango area to assist with selection of new scholarship children
  • Tour Pura Vida projects in the area: widows homes, pastors homes, computer labs, chicken coops
  • Take a few days off to enjoy the sights: Lake Atitlan, Antigua
Schedule (October 24 - 31, 2007)
Wednesday Oct. 24 - Fly to Guatemala (noon departure)
Thursday Oct. 25

- Arrive in Guatemala City
- Drive to Chichicastenango (~4 hours)
- Check into Hotel Santo Tomas
- Visit projects in Lemoa (orphanage, Maryknoll Sisters, adobe homes)
Friday Oct. 26 - Scholarship selection Lemoa
- Attend graduation ceremony at John Wesley School
Saturday Oct. 27 - Visit pastor's home project in Paquixic
- Scholarship selection in Paxot II
Sunday Oct. 28

- Free time at the market in Chichicastenango
- Visit projects and continue scholarship selection in Chontala
- Attend Methodist church service in the evening

Monday Oct. 29 - Drive to Panjachel (~3 hours)
- Check into hotel
- Spend day at Lake Atitlan
Tuesday Oct. 30 - Drive to Antigua (~4 hours)
- Check into hotel
- Spend day in Antigua
Wednesday Oct. 31 - Drive to Guatemala City
- Fly to Denver (morning departure)

Cost
The total cost for this trip is currently estimated at $1,425 per person, but that may vary until we lock in airfares and group size. This amount includes all airfare, ground transportation, comfortable lodging, and most meals during the trip. Below is the breakdown of what is covered by this amount:

  • Round-trip airfare from Denver to Guatemala City
  • Comfortable lodging (double or triple occupancy)
  • All meals in Guatemala City and Chichicastenango
  • Ground Transportation
  • Evacuation insurance
  • Guatemala City departure tax
  • Lunch and dinner in Panajachel and Antigua
  • Single Occupancy lodging
  • Guatemala City airport security fee ($3.00 or Q20)
  • Dinner beverages other than purified water
